The Value of Lymphatic Drainage After Surgery
In the weeks following surgery, your lymphatic vessels are damaged and still regenerating. Fortunately, post-surgical lymphatic massage supports your body’s natural healing process.
Gentle treatment of the affected area can:
Reduce swelling by moving excess fluid.
Reduce your pain and discomfort.
Minimize bruising.
Accelerate your body’s recovery process.
Prevent scar tissue and fibrosis formation.
Purge your body of the anesthesia and medications used in surgery.
By using light pressure and specific strokes that are designed to move the lymphatic fluid effectively and stimulate the lymphatic system, you should feel and notice the benefits right away. I use the Vodder technique of manual lymphatic drainage, and I can also add in the gentle and effective Lymphstar machine.
Manual Lymphatic Drainage Supports Recovery
from Most Procedures
I provide post-surgical lymphatic massage to clients who are recovering from most procedures including (but not limited to):
Arm Lifts
Breast Augmentation
Breast Explant Surgery
Breast Lifts
Breast Reductions
Face Lift
Liposuction
Mastectomy
Tummy Tucks
Mommy Makeover (MMO)
Typically, post-surgical lymphatic massage begins 7-10 days after the procedure and includes 4 to 12 sessions. We can start short sessions in the first week to address general discomfort and swelling, as long as we avoid the surgery site itself.
It’s most effective when conducted several times a week in the earlier stages of recovery. However, I’ll design a massage schedule to fit your personal situation.
